Things to know before hiring a caterer
“Where do I start” is the most common statement that I hear when someone is trying to hire a caterer, but have never hired a caterer before. So because of that, we have put together a few pointers that you need to inquire about and make a part of your due diligence when vetting a catering company. If you follow these simple tips, you should be just fine.
Ask Around. Ask your relatives, friends, and co-workers for recommendations. Investigate the caterers you are considering. Your due diligence here will pay off. You can do this by checking out sites like Google, Yelp, Angie’s List and Facebook for their online reviews and ratings.
However, don’t stop there, as online reviews are just a tip of the iceberg. One thing to check when researching reviews is how current are the reviews. If a caterer only has reviews from 2009, you might want to think twice, but checkout as many of the review sites as possible to get a complete picture. Check out what others are saying about us. Also check us out on Google, Yelp and Angies List then book your next event and let us bring the party to you!
Ability to Handle Your Specific Type of Event. Not every caterer is perfect for every type of event, and many (not all) caterers themselves openly admit this. Find out the caterer’s specialties. If you are planning a big event, ask if the catering service provider can they handle big events. There are some caterers who only do small parties. All caterer do a broad range of events, but we are built to service different markets more effectively than others so it’s important to ask enough questions to determine if a caterer has the right kind of experience for you. Each caterer has areas that they specialize in so even a caterer with a great reputation may not be the best fit for you. For example, some are more ’boutique’ style and specialize in smaller intimate-type social events. Others specialize in serving large corporate and non-profit clients. So pick and choose wisely.
