We recently took the Occasional Occasions show on the road! We were honored to have catered a beautiful wedding in Auburn Alabama at Crooked Oaks Farm. Crooked Oaks Farm is a stunning wedding venue located just 20 minutes from Auburn, Alabama. The venue is located on a hunting preserve owned and operated by College Football Hall of Fame Coach Pat Dye. The venue was full of nostalgic memorabilia and if you were an Auburn fan, you really felt home.
This was not the first time that we had catered an event out of town, but it was the first time we were in the position to bring all of our own equipment. I took many of my A-Team to the event with me. The road trip was a time for us to laugh, tell jokes and just bond. We rented a 12 passenger Sprinter and hitched a trailer on the back.
The venue, a covered outdoor space, was beautiful and the weather was special ordered for that day. My team did an incredible job, starting with my Chef Freddie and his team completing and delivering all of the food. My front of the house team serving passed appetizers of Shot Glass Colossal Shrimp Cocktail, Southern Fried Chicken Cakes, Crab Salad and Bourbon Bacon Jam in Phyllo Cups. For the main event, we served a Beef Tenderloin Carving Station served with Pesto Aioli, Horseradish Sauce, and an Au Jus Glaze. We also served a Mac & Cheese bar with Two different Mac & Cheese selections (Mac & Cheese with Collards and Gouda Mac & Cheese) that were accompanied with many creative toppings. There was also a self serve station of Chicken Breast in a Caper Sauce, Marinated Dill Green Bean Bundles and Honey & Apple Cider Collard Greens. We also offered a Salad-TIni Station of 4 salad selections served in Martini glasses, (Balsamic Kale Salad with Dried Cran-Raisins and Pecans, Fire Cracker Cole Slaw, Watermelon Salad with Jalapeno, Mint and Feta and a Quinoa Salad with Farm Vegetables).
The event overall was a huge success. Although we are based in Atlanta, the event planner for the venue informed us that we operated with such professionalism that she was adding us to their preferred vendors list. What can we say, we rocked it again.
